I removed the inlet manifold from my stock HQ 253 to replace the cam and lifters and found it to be eaten away at the end water jackets . Not terminal but should be repaired . My problem...Working on a budget and living in Brisbane , should I try to get it built up with alloy welding or does anyone have a good second hand one for a reasonable price ?Please suggest options ...thanks ....NEIL

253 inlet manifolds usually end up being sold for scrap alloy value in wrecking yards. You should be able to find one cheaply. If not advertise in your local rag.

Try bell zoner (I think thats is how to spell it) or any other type of two parts mellicular metal. If you can find some one who has some they may spare some and that makes for a cheap repair and it does work. Alloy welding is probably the better way to go
