a friend of mine is restoring his HT GTS V8 back to as close as original. It was factory optioned with with a 253/saginaw combo. He's now looking for a 253/saginaw. My quesion is what trans bolt pattern did they come with? Was it trimatic or chev bolt pattern to fit the saginaw? He has come across a 253/trimatic from a HG premier, which is still the original motor (engine number 253xxxx). Still has the oil snorkel etc. Would this engine fit the saginaw? Or did the orignal 253 have two bolt patterns on them (saginaw and trimatic)?
