Hi all, Have recently purchased a door solenoid kit to use when i shave the handles off my EK... Apparently they are illegal but i have seen a few pics of Australian road registered cars that have shaved handles and use solenoid kits... I am in NSW and am not sure what the go is? any light that anyone can shed on the topic will be greatly valued... Thankyou

hi mate i think for them to be legal there must still be a way to gain acess into your car externally,ie a push button or handle locked somewhere 'easy' to find in the case of an emergency. i am not sure on exact details but remember a car that had solen

A recent article in Street Machine a few months ago that showed how recessed handles are done, and yes, it was with a flush fit pushbutton. So adding a solenoid...no big deal.

shaved handles are not legal in NSW.
Door button kits are the go or levers as previously mentioned.
I have used door buttons on my car.

I have also seen a few cars that use a mechanism attached to the wing mirrors - they are hinged so you pull them forward and it opens the door..
