Any one out there know and explain what people mean when they say they have stage 1/2/ shift kit? and what exactky they do?

stage 1 usually means a towing pack for a slightly firmer shift and reduced slippage between gears. Stage 2 is designed to make an even firmer shift while toughening ceratin parts for durablility sake. Stage 3 and 4 are performance orientated stages where
