Hi all, does anyone have a VS workshop manual covering the electric fuel pump for a V8 VS (mine hasn't arrived yet).
What I need to know is the flow rate per hour and the pressure the pump can handle.

Dre I think the flow rate is pretty high but I doubt you will get a pressure figure because the system works on a flow through principle, it has a bypass system where the rate of flow is much higher than needed and the excess is fed back to the surge tank

Thanks for the info, but the GMH workshop manuals have figures for flow rate and pressure *just* for the pump alone, not when connected to the system.
Its at the end of the fuel pump section under "specifications"

Hi Dre,
sounds like u rgetting well sussed.
I ditched the stocky (around 45 psi or so)
and got a Bosch hi flow pump, pumps way in excess of what i need.. lol
anyway adjustable fuel reg, and the afore mentioned bypass system plumbe

Hi, the stocky your talking about, what kind of stock is it? VN or VS commodore external type?
I basically need to know what the minimum pressure and flow rate I need for WOT on a stock VS V8 so I can match up a fuel pump.
So far I can get

Correction, that cheaper one I was talking about is only a 130L/hour pump...

One last question :)
Were you having trouble with the stock pump not supplying enough fuel?
I would have thought a stock pump would have been able to pump a fair bit more than stock applications...

So if you want/need a high flow/pressure pump, won't it be a waste unless you also have high flow injectors as well?
Now that gets EXPENSIVE!!!!

A higher PSI will give u marginal increase in flow thru ur std injectors, but as u mentioned yeah hi flow is the way to go.

I never put the stock pump on as the line sizes i used were all mis matched.
It's a VN external pump.

Thanks for the info. I reckon a stocko pump would probably be ok then (300kpa). But we'll see, I might still get this high flow pump (more overhead for future expansion :)

By all accounts its OK.
I just up graded mine, because I didnt want to re-do the job later on with, plumbing, etc that ran in hard to reach places.

I'm having a prick of a time trying to find somewhere "nice" to mount the pump, atm, it looks like I might have to run in down one of the chassis bars that span the chassis rails, not very tidy so looks like I'll be under

Welcome to the world of underneath cars :-) I get the feeling that a "lesser" pressure pump will fulfill your needs. The HSV GTS 5.7 ltr 6 spd VR that we have at the moment appears to have the same pump as VN - ?

Knock sensor is only required if the computer knows about it. If it doesn't it can still be programmed to have quite an advanced timing curve. With a knock though, you get even more agressive timing.
