I HAVE A HQ 10 BOLT DIFF AND SAW IN A MAG ARTICLE WHERE A GUY PUT THE REAR DISC'S FROM A HZ ON THE HQ DIFF IS THIS POSSIBLE.

HQ to WB V8 salisbury diffs are all the same housing and centre, apart from the actual ratio differences, the swaybar mounts on the RTS diffs and the larger yoke on the 1 -tonner and 350 HQ's. THEREFORE the disc brake setup off a HZ or WB will bolt straig

You will need the disc brake axle (10mm shorter with longer studs and smaller diameter hub)The bearing and seal are the same as drum brake but you must have the spacer ring and the disc brake style bearing retainer and the longer retainer bolts. The left

Why bother? HZ rear discs were prone to problems and handbrake operation virtually non-existent. Drums work fine. It is easy to fit Comodore rear discs to HQ axle but some fiddling might be needed to get everything to fit exactly -backing plates bolt str

Disk brake rear ends came out on the HZ, so no they weren't on the HQ. I have done the conversion on my HJ. As Byron said you need the rear disk brake master cylinder and proportioning valve. It is easier to get it all off an HZ or WB wreck that way you g |

If you do the Commodore disc brake conversion you don't have to redrill the discs. The disc will fit straight over the wheel studs that are there. The important bit is the centre boss/ retainer ring.

well strangly enough i'm doing this conversion atm and am having a drama with the hand brake its a hx stato which im fitting with a hz disc diff rebuilt the calipers all the discs and calipers are on but theres too much slack in the hand brake cables i've

disc brake rear calipers have different cables to drum brake..not the centre loop just the 2 at the calipers.. |

HZ and WB calipers are slightly different So if they supplied the wrong caliper you might have cable issues
As for HQ with disc rear I heard a rumour many years ago that 6 were made for NSW police with 350 and disc rear No idea how true it was thoug
