Howdy everybody,
Just wondering what fuel economy everyone is getting from their carburetted 308 motors (or other Holden V8 variants and even EFI)? Very interested to see the results, so please post if possibe.
I'll start it off with my LX Torana 308 V8. Running a Rochester Quadrajet and getting 16L/100km (17.8mpg) on highway and 18L/100km (15.8mpg) in city with steady driving. This is using a premium 98 octane fuel; Synergy or Optimax. Carb is jetted slighly lean at part throttle.
Look forward to replies,
Paul E

I get around 14L/100km on a 550km weekly commute - a mix of freeway & heavy traffic.
I've seenas low as 11L/100km on a consistent freeway run, and up to 18L/100km average in heavy stop start traffic.
This is in a VS Calais, 185kw (HSV enha

Paul,
I have a 308 with quaddy carb T400 auto HZ wagon. It's dual fuel, on gas around 18-19L/100kms with a mix of country winding roads and city driving, on petrol I've seen about 15-16L/100kms, but it isn't often running solely on petrol.

I get around 15L/100k in mine, and its got a loud cam in it, I personally think thats pretty good for that engine.
I'm currently putting VS commdoroe injection on it and expect an improvement...
Cheers Dre

I shudder to think sometimes, but with mainly city driving I probably average around 15ltr/100kms. It's a efi 304 with a mild COME cam, T5 gearbox in a HZ ute.

I drive a HJ ute. When it had a red 308, Rochester carb trimatic it did about 16-17L/100km highway. When it had a red 6 cyl 4 speed it was actually very similar.
Now I have a VP injected 5L and electric 4 speed auto (VS wiring harness/computer) an

(Not a Holden V8 strictly speaking but a Holden V8 nonetheless) My 5.7L LS1 Holdrolet/Auto 1750kg VXII wagon can push it into the low to mid 9L/100km on the open road of which I have plenty of; I live in the country!! or 13/15L around town with a fairly h

How do you guys measure the fuel economy?
My fuel SL/R fuel gauge is not that accurate it can measure litres, added to this my speedo is out so my odometer will also be out.
I'm not going to empty my tank put in some fuel and then run it till

My speedo's pretty accurate. The how much fuel bit is pretty easy though. Start with a full to the top tank. Re-set your trip meter if you have one, or remember how many K's you're up to. Then just drive till you have to fill up again.
Now just take
