Hiding wiring on a VL and am running the wiring thru the guards and need to lengthen the wire to the air flow meter. Now the thing is this is a shielded wire and with the VL being so forgving with its electrics (ha ha) want to know how to do this and keep the integrity of the shielding?

Take a sample to cable shop and buy a new piece that is the right lenght

I've found an easy way with foil shielded stuff (like some data cables) is to join your inner wires up - staggered along from each other, heatshrink them, then wrap some alfoil over it, and heatshrink the lot.
