Can't we bring back production car racing - V8 Supercars are bascially the same running gear with a fibreglass shell (albeit close to a million bucks each). How about something representing the real cars we want to buy and drive.
What are your thoughts -

Group C big-bangers were the best, followed by the "improved production" racing of the 70s that brought us legendary cars like the Monaro GTS350, XU1, L34 & A9X Toranas etc etc.

You forgot a couple of even more inportant examples:
HK GTS327 GT Falcons (XR,XT,XW,XY and XA) Valiant Pacer E38 and E49 Chargers
Plus the group A era which gave us the three Commodore Group A models.

I think there must be more than a few of us radicals out there (like CDnut and ByronR), that dont so much want the old days back, but WANT a real production race. Not this fake battle of fibreglass and parts.

Problem is you would still end up with the big bucks winning, but like hq racing rules could be made. If you wanted to kick in prizemoney I am sure that someone would get involved.

I didn't say that the race cars share componetns with the road cars, I said that many road cars share similar components. As you said, the race cars run Holinger boxes, live rears, etc. Many road cars today utilise similar brake components, d

Yep I agree V8 Supercars are boring but mainly because you know that either a Commodore or Falcon is going to win the race.
Neither the Holden or Ford are available with a 5 litre engine so there is no way that this form of racing "improves th
