My 16 year old son is looking to by an HJ it's a 253 4 spd full gas conversion,4 core radiator, thermatic fan, good paint job some rust in the normal places, interior good, what would be a good starting price. Owner will drop to $4800

unique cars value guide puts a cond 2 HJ Kingswood at $2,800 , your sellers asking price would be more suited to a HJ monaro in similar cond. I would keep looking.

Depends too on what rust the paint is hiding on top of what you can see now. As mentioned already $4800 is way too much for a HJ Kingy (about double what it's worth in fact!), even with a gas conversion.

Cheers

I hope your 16 yo is sensible. It sounds like a pretty fast car to be buying for a child, and the price seems a bit steep. Start him on a Datsun 120Y until he knows traffic. After all, they will think that they know better than us at that age, won't they

Hj V8 kingys sell between $500.-$2500. for $4800. you can get a nice V8 HX premier or HZ prem even a WB statesman or HQ-HX GTS in reasonable cond. Unfortunatley a lot of people try to sell cars that a well meaning (but out of touch)friend has told them it
