Is there much involved in changing a coloum shift into a floor shift apart from cutting a hole in the floor for the shifter?

i have only ever done it using an aftermarket shifter.


but you will need to move the wiring for the neutral saftey switch and reverse light switch.


blank off the column, rarespares sells the blank ones, dont know how good they are compared to

I changed my column shift auto HQ to a floor shift auto with console .It was important to measure the exact position to cut the hole as the shifter will need to line up with the box using the factory linkage.There will be some flexibility for adjustment w

Forgot to mention, remove coffee pot with column change lever attached and remove attaching pin . Grind the mounting point flat and fill hole with fibre class etc. this will save the cost of a new coffee pot and you'll never know it was a column change .C

yeah it's the measure ments i need for the hole whats happened is i bout a hj caprice with turbo 400 floor there was some structural damage so got another shell hx i belive that was coloum shift in process of changinf every thing over i have the parts jus

The column covers that Rare Spares have are from the original GM tooling.So is the console.

Just find one at the wreckers, not sure if the locations were different between auto types. Usually the auto, console etc is gone already so just measure it up!
