Howdy,


Somebody told me that a gear reduction starter motor off a VN Commodore V8 will bolt straight onto a V8 red motor (308). Is this true??

Sorry, I'll rephrase the question. I'm after a smaller and more powerful starter motor for a V8 red motor; what will fit it?

There is something strange about starter motors and red vs blue/black V8's. I can't remember exactly what the problem is, but I think there is something different that causes a red motor one not to fit a blue motor properly, or vice versa. I think it has

Attempted to fit one of these myself today to my HZ Sandman. They fit fine minus to problems.


1. My old starter was a lucas type, and one of the two bolts was full-length, the other was only a half-length bolt. The VN style BXH-136 starter uses two
