Iam having a pain of a time trying to get a working odometer for my car working. Ive now broken 3 speedos and have 1 left to try and fix. The problem is grey metal gear slips on the shaft so nothing works. Should epoxy glue work or is there a reason why it wont? Ive tried gluing it so many times and it just wont stick to the metal shaft.

You have to roughen the shaft to give the glue something to stick to. Surely speedos aren't that hard to get? I have a complete dash with the economy meter (vacuum gauge ) if you want it cheap.

If you don't want to use that typ

The needle has to be given a couple of turns to pre-tension it before you push it all the way on. That makes it sit firm against the stop. Or it may be stuffed. Was it working before?
