G`day all, just wanted to clariry a few things, I asked a question earlier about putting triple SU's on my red motor, and got a few suggestions about VK injection and the like, but I need to know a bit more about what excactly is involved and how do I wire in a computer system to the old dinosaur wiring harness? those thingeys have about a million wires coming out of them! My brother had a Ford (EA I think)which had a carby which had injectors down the guts, seemed to me to be some sort of compromise between a carby and injection, did any of the early commodores have a similar system and is it feasible to put one on my motor?, sorry if I sound a bit naive here but this car is the first carby holden Ive had in nearly 20 years and I`m learning everything all over again. Thanks for any advice

Those who suggested you use fuel injection were definitely steering you in the right direction. SU carbs look simple but they are far from it. Look them up on the net and you will see how much is involved and pay particular attention to th

A VK EFI motor will virtually fit straight into a HX. The best way to get one and all the bits is to buy a complete VK. You should easily find one for less than $800. If the engine is shagged, simply rebuild it or build another one up and sw

I don't usually go against Byron but the swirl pot is in my opinion an unnecessary expense and complication. I ran EFI on my HQ with one fuel pump (the standard VK/VL one) (the VL one has a straight flexible inlet hose which may be easier to use than the

Hi Guys.

I have to disagree with you on this one johnperth, the main reason for a swirl pot, whether it is inside or outside the take is to make sure the pump only picks up pure liquid, no air.

I've serviced so many EFI converted cars, with no

Dr.Terry I don't disagree with you, the swirl pot is only small and the rate of return is high, but it would also be picking up new fuel from the tank so would it make that much difference to the temperature of the fuel. But that supports sort of my argum

Surge tanks in utes aren't really required because of the tank design and it's location. Sedans though have a flatter tank where fuel sloshing (is there a better word) when low is more likely to result in air pockets.

That's my thought for what it'
