Hello Everyone, I have a good Holden 253 V8 that I want to rebuild and install in my HQ Ute project. What kind of work can be done to a 253 to give it a little extra grunt eg Heads, intake carby, cam. Hope some one with experience can help. Thanks Owen

Ok, first things first, there is a never ending list that i, and everyone else here can make up. I think, and everyone else here aswell would think that the most important part of a rebuild, is the Oil pump. Replace it with a high volume pump, preferably

Crane warn against high volume oil pumps in a street car, they wash out the bearings and lead to engine failure.

I've also been warned about h/v oil pumps by numerous people as well, and have never run one in any Holden 253/304/308, and all had decent pressure at all RPM.
The other prob with a h/v pump is that when pulling decent RPM, you end up emptying the s
