Today I took my car to the mechanic to find out why it vibrates, he adjusted the uni joint which wasn't sitting properly but it didn't do much. He suspects there may be something amiss with the gearbox.
He also noticed about 5-10 mm end float in the diff, i.e. the wheel moves in and out of the diff about 5 mm or so when on other cars it is about 1 or 2 mm.
Is this normal for a Torana LX?
If not, has anyone experienced this and what was done to rectify it.

Sure it isn't a wheel bearing?? These tapered bearings give a lot of slack when they're worn. I have a pair of LX Torana axles at home with near new bearings fitted. I'd be happy to sell these to you, say $30 the pair + postage? All you'll need is new
