where did you buy the motor? i've been thinking similar thoughts (gotta remorgage first;) while drooling over http://www.suburbanimports.com.au/motors.htm did you have any rego/insurance hassles?

The 4-core, shroud and mechanical fan should work best. Does it have alloy heads? These help heaps in cooling the old steamers.

yes it has alloy heads and it has been enginered for 454cu,i will get a blue slip for it soon.then get it changed on the rego.alot of cash been put into it.its not just the motor,have to look at gearbox convertor,and other niggly things that pop up.cheers

Gents regarding car cooling systems ive made custom radiators for like 6 yrs never came across a prob that i couldnt sort out most cases for serious engines you need to look at a custom ally radiator for your toy much more efficent better ability to dissa

Further to this.

Replaced the radiator with a new 3 core Chev in HQ unit, and replaced hoses. Fans just on manual switches, and it hasnt even lokeed like getting too hot.

Round town, run 1 fan. Open road, no fan. Stopped / crawling, run 2. Never

The 400 Blocks in some cases do have heating problems. Mostly due I'm sure to core shift, or improper cleaning of the Blocks prier to assembly.

Ive never been a big fan for the Big bowties,
but Ive rebuilt a few. From my experience with them - the Heads are the major drawback, and very costly to recondition from a parts point of view. They are cumbersome in size, and quite ackward to mount in th

I fitted a 454 to my HX 1 tonner and it was straight forward,the engine mounts were holden with chev adaptors,it had extractors factory air,power steering and the spark plugs were easier to get out than when it had a 253 in it,can't run a mechan

Byron, I'd get the BBC, even if you have to give it a quick rebuild. Those crate morors are excellent value for money. My mate has one in his C20. We went down the coast and picked up my gooseneck the other weekend. 42ft and around 5 ton with a car etc in

What i'm actually doing is converting a HZ radiator support to take a WB crossflow radiator. I've been advised that a few of the small and big block Chev burnout cars getting around run a 4-row crossflow successfully. Apparantly these cool even better aga
