Hi there,

Just a few questions regarding statesmans history if anyone is up to scratch on their history.

I am just wondering what the HZ Statesman SL/E had, or did not have that the Caprice and De Ville's did or did not. Are these vehicle's harder to find than their Caprice and De Ville counterparts, or is it the opposite ?

Fairly general question I am afraid, however I am finding it very hard to find some good history on the HZ Statesman models.

Cheers

The sl/e statesman had a GTS dash with burl walnut fascia , and colour coded GTS steering wheel, sl/e alloys similar to the commodore sl/e with different offset, they were a limited production run , I have heard figures of 500 but I`m not 100% sure.

All the good info and specs can be found on all models in `50 years of Holden` book by Terry bebbington. Well worth the purchase.

Thanks so much for your response. I have seen this book at my local borders. Think I might have to go and get myself a copy.

Thanks again for the help.

Hi Guys.

Cloudy has got most things listed, they also had A/Cond std & had 308 with TH350. The wheels were unique as they are 14" & HQ/WB bolt pattern. SL/E Comms were 15".

The body & VIN are the same as Caprice i.e. 8WT6

These were a limited run thing, release in April 1979. Not many were made. They had the same fascia as the HX LE coupe, just with an RTS badge. The dash was a HZ yellow needle. They had Caprice style centre console and wheel, plus had 14" versions of

The W series was originally going to be a full upgarde but with the runaway success of the Commodore GMH did not have the facilities to produce both, and the demand for the HZ had dropped off so they could not justify a complete redevelopment of the H ser
