Gday,
just wondering if someone could tell me what the first part of the VIN for the following would be:

1980 WB Panel Van
253 and t-bar auto
bucket seats
GTS Dash
head lining only in front

Were side windows an option or were they always put in after? Also, which month in 1980/81 did the commercials change from the round headlight front to the rectangular?

cheers
Rhys

The round light model ran from April 1980 -August 1980 , look on the comp plate for seating I think you find it says 3 seat capacity , the early WB vans were very basic and were not factory fitted with GTS dashes , later WB kingswood utes had GTS dashes a

Hi Rhys.

The VIN prefix should be 8M70RK....if prior to 9/80 or 8M70RA if 9/80 Onwards.

The round head lights to square intro was 1/7/80 for Utes & vans & 31/3/81 for 1 Tonners.

GTS instruments were not standard on any WB commercial, they were

Righto guys, I've bought it, its quite a tidy unit, all original too.
Has factory air and power steer too. GTS Dash, ADR plate says seating is 2. Was a mistake in the ad too, its a 03/1982, not 1980, so has the good front end. The yellow is paler than Ja

Rare spares have on side mirror NOS. You can fit TE/F Gemini guts to these to give yourself remote control mirrors.
Try Nulon pro stength in BP Ultimate. Have a read of the article on page 168 of January 2005 Street Machine.

Thanks Crowe and Byron. I've got the WB supplement too somewhere, will have to dig it up and take a look through. Yes, pity there wasn't a WB Sandman, would be interesting to see what prototype they had in mind and what sort of options it would have had.
