Can anyone help with suggestions as to how I can identify whether an auto I have is a C4, C6 or FMX???

Nearly all C4s have the dipstick tube entering the oil pan. Both bands on the C4 can be adjusted externally. FMX is like a BIG BW 35. You have to drop the sump to do the bands. C6 is the big mother, only fits big blocks and 400 Clevelands. I am no expert

hay does some one know which auto went into what model like a 351 in a XB ect 302 ci C4. 250 ci BW 35. 351 FMX ? some 351 got FMX and C4? some 250 C4?

xbs would have C4 -C10. there is a C6 which to suit 302-351. samll
bell housing, 460 big bell housing. F100 -F350s had C6s.

Every FMX that I have seen has had an ally bell housing & a cast iron transmission housing making them bloody heavy.

Just to add my two cents worth, from my recent experience, the F100's usually had C10's seems like the heavy duty Ambulance's and F250 /F350 had the C6 if that helps any?

i think XA 351 all had FMX. XB 351 2V had C4, 4V had FMX. XC 351 ALL FMX? AND MAY BE XT-W-Y had C4 called cruisamatic? was the 2 speed in XM called fordomatic. then borg warner 35 in most 6 cyl up to XT?

Where does the BW 40 auto box fit in here. I'm told its only in the early 1992 EA Falcon. Are they used in any other vehicle

XK falcon had fordomatic 144 ci got air clooed. 170 ci got water cooled. XL all water cooled. and XM. XP had 2 speed and later 3 speed borg warner 35. XR 200ci BW 35, 289ci cruisomatic. XT 3.1L BW 35, and some 3.6, some? 3.6 cruis and v8. XW first T bar
