G'day all, could someone explain to me in laymens terms what the difference is between resistor plugs, leads, coils etc. and what will and will not work with what, the reason I ask is that I have no idea what leads I have on mine, and the plugs are non-resistor type, and yesterday I went to buy plugs to suit the new electronic ignition, instead of just my old ones regapped to a degree which looks like to much for the plugs(much reshaping of the electrode required to get the bigger gap)and the guy at the shop said that the right ones to use were resistor plugs like the blue motors use, but he couldnt explain the difference and said that there is not a real lot of difference anyway which confused me more! I need to replace the leads soon because the other night I noticed one arcing out on the dipstick a little, and they are pretty old, they came with the dizzy I bought on EBAY, so I basically need to know what the hell to buy as far as plugs and leads, as I have no idea what the coil is either except that it came with the dizzy too and is a bosch one. Any advice will be GREATLY appreciated by this confused soul. Thanks

I can do the replacement leads for you if it is either red 6, blue/black 6 or VL RB30...$25 a set + $7.90 postage or buy 2 sets and postage is free...since your in Sydney pick up is OK.

Use the same spark plugs that the ENGINE/HEAD needs, not the dizzy. So if you're running a red engine, use the original spark plugs for the red. Re-gap them if it runs better.

Use leads that are for the dizzy, so blue-engine leads.

Cheers, Jason.

Hi Guys.

Don't bother with resistor type plugs, I've found them unnecessary & too expensive. They are supposed to reduce RF emissions causing ECU (computer) problems.

You haven't mentioned what set-up you have but it sounds like a blue motor HEI dis
