What are the litre differences ,problems ,pitfalls and advantages between the cut petrol tank under floor gas tank method compared to the gas tank in the baggage compartment?
Does anyone have any relevant experience with this.I currently have a HQ sedan(poor body) with a gas tank in the boot and relatively new reco engine (about 4000kms) vehicle is unregistered sitting in familys carport.When I return to Oz in mid 2006 ,(Currently living in Denmark)I plan to buy a HZ wagon with good body and stick gas kit, tank and possibly 202 reco from HQ into the Z.Help/advice/comments and theorys please.

its a personal choice as to were the gas tank sits and advantages and disadvatages either way. Having the gas tank in the in the baggage area reduces the amount of room and in most cases the ability to fold down the rear seat of the wagon for extra space

If it is a stainless steel tank you can't fit it under floor it hss to go inside (in WA anyway)

You can't use stainless tanks in NSW anymore. You can but a bottle cluster, and donut shaped tanks though that are designed to fit where the spare wheel goes. There may also be enough room left in a HQ-HZ wagon to fit a low profile spare eg 195/65/14. If |

Is there anywhere on the net that I can check out those donut tanks you´re talking about?Sounds like a good option.Even just a name to Search with would be good.The overlander in the picture is just me "dreamin".I,m really just after a stock standard HZ

Fuel capacity in the Hz is 75lt with the tank fitted under the floor fuel is cut down to half that around 36lt. Most gas tanks that I have seen fitted are 80lt in the HQ-Z and thats in or under the car, some have smaller 60lt tanks but you usually see the

There is also a 'bottle bank' that has four or five small thin bottles arranged in a rectangle. I think these are about 60L useable |

All I need now is to Return to Oz (its been -10 to -15 with 20/30cms snow over here!)and get hold of a good (2wd)wagon.

My mate told me about an immaculate HQ Premier wagon for sale. It's a 253 with 3 speed manual column shift. It's only down side was a rusty tailgate. It was $2500 regoed I think. |

I have a Falcon Wagon on dual fuel it's got it's full 80L petrol capacity & has the 3 tanks joined together on top of the petrol tank. It's rated at 59litres usable capacity.
The spare wheel sits upright in the cargo area (as it does with 1/2 petrol |

I have a dual fuel 308 HZ Premier wagon and a dual fuel 202 HZ Kingswood wagon. The Kingy has the tank in the passenger compartment running lengthways on the drivers side. It's a bit of a pain for things like prams etc as it's not wide enou |
