gday i was wanting to know if the hj has any major faults before i buy one.

like any old car the obvious is rust.the hidden rust is generally in the front chambers under the windscreen.check the front floors as an indication if these chambers are rusty it leaks and rusts out the floors.the chassis also cracks around the shock mou |

The HJ is basically a HQ with modified dash and front panels. It still has the shock tower and rear of lower control arm mount cracking problem as Greg states (as does the HX and earlier HZ). It also still has the HQ's steering column and floor mounted hi |

Generally I have found cracks only in V8`s but I would look all the same , if you went RTS chassis from a HZ rego shouldn`t matter i know this at least in SA as chassis numbers are not recorded before 1980 on the rego papers. Adelaide cars from what I hav

Every Elizabeth built Holden I've ever seen has has a chassis number eg AHX38377A. In NSW this number is the identity of your vehicle. This is also the case in Queensland as far as I understand. |

ive wrecked plenty of six cylinder cars over the years that had cracks you could stick a pen in and shock towers that were not attached to the chassis...always pays to look hard...something ive seen more of recently is the bottom bolts that secure the ste |
