I'm not sure that remote starters are legal (in NSW at least). They have to have a key in to start. Wouldn't it be the same as push button ignition?? Can't have it unless there is a key as well for cut-off reasons.

they are legal if installed correctly, ie
handbrake must be on, car must be in park (auto) or neutral (manual)
if either status is changed ie, foot on the clutch, put in drive etc, it will kill the engine.
it needs a sequence to stay on eg....car has b
