With Turbos n Screws costin $2,000+, Me an mi 202-Inj are gonna hafta settle for "Squeezin the Pots" (just to be drivin rather than dreamin).
Being aware of fuel today, Can anyone tell me the "ABSOLUTE MAX" Compression Ratio the Arabs will let us go to.
I won't mind paying for the $1.20/l stuff as long as it don't "ping"
Has anyone out there "ACTUALLY" gone that little bit "TOOO FAR" (what ratio did u aim 4)? Did u get a PSI reading ?

I took 40 thou off a black head and it drove fine on LRP but I think we have better stuff in Perth than what you guys get maybe you should experiment. Much more than 40 thou and you are messing with the rocker ratios.

Were your Pistons oversize ? Do u rememer the PSI reading (120-160?)
Oh also just been surfin n found out that water injection and/or intercoolers on their own both can inhibit detonation by lowering the intake temp (hmmm wonder how far we could push th

It was 30 thou over. Water injection supposed to be good I haven't used it.

if you use an alloy head you can run a bit more compression before it pings. - just a bit scarce, yella terra forgot their roots and pulled the plug on them.

stick to 10-10.5 to 1
use 98 octane fuel (optimax, senergy, vortex 98 etc)
my mate just did a rebuild on a HX 308 and when done had around 10.9 to 1.
slight pinging on hot days. put in an oversized head gasket to drop it slightly, hasn't had any reoccu

Have to agree with you Rogo....Yella Terra make great gear.
Pity that the bean counters pulled the plug on the grassroots buyers :-(

ROGO - Makes sense when u encounter the Thermal efficiancy of Alloy,I wonder if - Larger Radiator, worked water galleries n electric water pump relative to the EFI program would reclaim where Yella Terra left off? (besides weight that is).

Hi Guys.

A compression PSI reading does not give you a good indication of compression ratio.

A 10:1 motor with a big cam will have less PSI than an 8:1 with a small cam.

Dr Terry.
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0

Dr T, Thanks 4 ur input, u've just put a new spin on things (Ha-the spin Dr). The reason I want to know PSI Readings is that it reflects the efficiency of a calculated compression ratio, and thats what u end up igniting.(I'm trying to identify the "Ping
