Does anyone know of a speedo drive gear colour chart on the net that tells which colour gear to use for each diff ratio with different tyre sizes ?

had a 2.78 with trimatic and it worked well with a white gear, about 3 k`s low on speedo. now using a 3.08 with one extra tooth on the gear (cant remember what colour I put in) and it reads 3 k`s high - which is safer regarding speed cameras.

just tryi

I did a chart about a year ago, and sent it to Rustymetal at oldholden.com
I've since lost the info....(was a big job getting all the ratios) in a pooter crash, but Rusty may still have a copy.
So...try oldholden.com & see if he's posted a copy in the t

Rogo.

I'll just repeat the facts to make sure I've got them right and have a look tonight for you. Post a reply to answer the questions as I'll need that info.

Trimatic.
3.08 diff.
245/60/15 tyres.

Questions:

What trimatic - V8, 6cyl, VK EFI

The trimatic is a V8 one, with the extra clutches. Thats all I know about it. I think its 308 statesman trans? In a Van with a 308.

2.78 had a white gear 20 tooth reads 3k`s low
3.08 has a green gear 21 tooth reads 3k`s high

3.36 is what i want to

The HQ book says with a V8 trimatic and 3.08 diff use:

green (21T) for F78x14 and 7.35x14 tyres.

dark blue (22T) for 185x14, 195x14, 70x14, 7.35x14 and EB78S-14 tyres.

red (23T) for 6.95x14 tyres.

One thing you might try is changing the drive

looks like your new wheel/tyre combo is 13% taller? assuming your speedo works correctly you want to reduce it's gearing by 13%, what's your speedo drive gear ratio?

Hi Guys.

There are 3 different drive gears inside the box, but the most common is the 8 tooth (white) gear.

The 2.60 diff uses the 7 tooth one & the low diffs (3.90 & 4.44) use the 9 tooth one.

The simple way to calculate it, is each time you cha
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0
