As an owner of a late 2003 TS Astra, i have been getting a little concerned reading some of the forum sites etc, where people have been saying how much trouble they have had with their Astras. One guy said he was quoted $7000 to have the gear box replaced, it failed with small kms on it. Other problems seem to be sensors failing and front discs wearing out. Mine (touch wood) has done 33,000 kms without to much of a hitch, apart from early leaking driveshaft seal and wheel alignment that the dealer said, " shes right mate close enough is good enough". It pulled to the left severly and gave up on them refusing to adjust it, so had it done by a friend in the wheel alignment business, problem solved. Any one got any comments on AH, i am not impressed in a number of areas?

Hiastraboy.
You have to be careful of urban myths.
A $7,000 gearbox!! well yes, a NEW geabox for any imported car will be that (or more), but who fits NEW gearboxes.
The Astra's sensors are no less reliable than any other modern car, they are mad |
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |

Thanks Dr Terry, as you say lots of issues can get out of hand when they arise. An outside business I deal with through work bought 2 new TS's in 1999, and had sensor trouble with both of them. I guess that when problems reoccur, you hope the manufacturer
