Hi All. My Kingy has a noise when the clutch is out but stops as soon as I push the clutch in. Is this just simply a stuffed throw out bearing or possibly the input shaft bearing? If it's the input shaft bearing can these be easily replaced once the box is out without pulling the guts out of inside the g'box. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Throw out bearing. you have to pull the box to fix it so check the clutch plate as well, also a good move to pull the flywheel and rear engine plate and check the rear welsh plugs for leaks saves doing them later.

Input Bearing.
I beg 2 differ John, the Throw out bearing usually makes a noise when it is loaded ie pushed In not Out (stationary).
When Released, the Input and Cluster then spin (revealing Gearbox noise)

Don't agree. In my experience a faulty throw out bearing will be noisy when the clutch pedal is not depressed. Not to say it won't be a gearbox bearing,but more likely throw out.
Try coasting with the clutch pedal pushed in, that disengages the throw out

johnperth, while I agree that a throwout bearing can be noisy when the clutch pedal is not depressed, the bearing itself IS fully loaded (or engaged) when the pedal is on the floor.

Sorry I meant the clutch is disengaged.The throwout bearing is under load when pedal is depressed, but it does seem it makes more noise when not under load (IE when pedal is up) I suppose the bearings themselves are floating around loose, while when engag

I have had the rumble as described from both the thrust and the front bearing as well. If the thrust is over adjusted or on some cable types it is running all the time and you can hear it with no load on it but it is shuts up with load on it.If you have t

Yes I've had this problem in my hz sandman. (pull cable) If you lift the clutch pedal (take the weight of the pedal off the cable) my noise went away. There's a pressure spring up at the pedal pivot point and you can take some of the downward force/ tensi
