Hi Dr Terry
I have a 1985 VK Commodore 4.9 V8 I have just had my heads rebuilt after blowing a head gasket and I had hardened valve seats and bronze valve guides put in so I can run straight PULP with out the valve seat protection additive.
Should I now run a Cat Converter becasue I am using PULP?
Cheers Ken

Hi Ken.
Yes PULP should be fine without any additive, the whole idea of fitting the hardened valve seats is to remove the need for any additive.
The cat converter is purely optional, you don't need it , but it is better for people's health. One of t |

Hi all,
I was taught at tech (1985) that, the ONLY reason Lead was removed from Petrol was because it destroyed the chemical make up of a Catyletic converters and rendered then usless. I have never heard that unleaded fuel is MORE toxic.

ULP is definitely more toxic than the old Super. Just look at the makeup of it and see how much Benzene and other toxic hydrocarbons like Hexane etc are in it. You see, the patent for tetraethyl lead was not owned by the oil companies, and they could prod |

Hi Guys.
To add to what Byron has posted.
The lead present in the environment was far worse in the 1800s, before the advent of the automobile, because all buildings had lead plumbing for the water supply & drainage & also lead-based paints were used |

I even read a story somewhere, so dont quote me on this, memory is a bit hazy. That Some places in the UK are going back to leaded fuel because it is safer in ALL aspects. We will all just get our old cars to run properly on PULP and they will ban that

just think about it. The lead in petrol has been heated to around 3000 degrees, has been subjected to extremely high pressures, all simultaneously. And the environmentalists would have us believe that our bodies can absorb this? I suspect the truth is

Its a pity we need the stuff to get around , if we could only run our cars on sea water for free and tell the gvt. to stick it.LOL I mostly run on LPG in my van its great for cold starts and smells better than ulp coming out the back.

Hi Johnperth, That link didn't quite work right. This will, hopefully, work... http://www.smasa.com.au/.../2000/unleaded_fuel.htmlIf it still looks like the one above, there should be an underscore before "fuel" so it is all one a
