I have a stock 85 rodeo except for extractors and exhaust system. I am looking at attaching a pod filter to the air intake pipe. I have read that these improve performance but dont understand this as since i already have an air filter wouldnt attaching a pod filter to the end of this pipe just restrict airflow more and if so wouldnt that make me lose power? Or if you add a pod filter are you meant to take out the normal air filter and just leave it upto the pod? Any reply would be greatly appreciated hey. Thanks all

James

Yeah the pod filter is meant to replace the original filter in the car so you take it out and attatch the pod filter to the end of the intake pipe.
Im not sure of the setup on the rodeo but if its already drawing cold air from outside the car then i woul

if you are going to do this for performance K&N make a high performance cartridge for your stock air filter box as pod cleaners are not meant to be used for road going vehicles as they dont comply to current ADR's

Yeh the pipe already takes air from behind the headlight. Just thinking a performance pod filter would allow more air in but if its just bull**** looks and no performance then i wont bother. Does your answer change now u got a idea of the setup. Tanks alo

Its just any setup where the air is drawn from an area that the air is colder,so could be out of the bonnet or under the wheel arch ect. old setups used to just collect air from inside the engine bay where the air is hot from the engine and exhuast manifo

There was a similar discussion a couple of weeks ago. What I did with my VR Acclaim was remove all the tubing and airbox from up front and put the pod filter straight on the throtttle body. Air was warm not cold, but zero direction changes and no suckin
