Hey Guy's,

I wish to bring a recent Street Machine Magazine article entitled "Street Machine Presents Australia's Toughest Fords" to the attention of all...

With this in mind I wished to bring it into discussion as it clearly states the value of our early GTs to be much much more than I am sure you, I and our insurers had thought their true value to be !

The following Statements Were Printed Within The Magazine Word For Word:

Condition 1 - Is the Top Category - for the Very Best Cars.
To qualify a Falcon GT would have to be fully restored, either by a
professional or an experienced and very competent amateur or, be
an Original Low-Mileage car that's rarely seen the road.

Condition 2 - Covers the middle ground, for average cars that have been
driven for the past thirty years and haven't been restored. These
examples still have all their original numbers, but have done 150,000 plus
miles and may have had a few hits.

Condition 3 - Describes the down-and-outs needing a full resto to breath
life back into them. They could be in bits, numbers may not match,
there's likely to be rust, and crash damage is a real possibility.

XR GT - Condition 1 - $55,000 To $60,000
XR GT - Condition 2 - $35,000 To $40,000
XR GT - Condition 3 - $15,000 To $20,000

XT GT - Condition 1 - $35,000 To $40,000
XT GT - Condition 2 - $20,000 To $25,000
XT GT - Condition 3 - $12,000 To $18,000

XW GT - Condition 1 - $45,000 To $50,000
XW GT - Condition 2 - $30,000 To $35,000
XW GT - Condition 3 - $20,000 To $25,000

XW GT HO - Condition 1 - $55,000 To $60,000
XW GT HO - Condition 2 - $40,000 To $50,000
XW GT HO - Condition 3 - $30,000 To $35,000

XY GT - Condition 1 - $100,000 To $120,000
XY GT - Condition 2 - $60,000 To $70,000
XY GT - Condition 3 - Up To $40,000

XY GT HO - Condition 1 - $200,000 To $220,000
XY GT HO - Condition 2 - $150,000 To $170,000
XY GT HO - Condition 3 - Up To $100,000

XA GT - Condition 1 - $350,000 To $40,000
XA GT - Condition 2 - $30,000 To $35,000
XA GT - Condition 3 - $18,000 To $20,000

XA GT HO - Any Car Is Worth Around $400,000
XA GT RPO83 - Any Car Is Worth $20,000 To $30,000 More Than A Comparable Standard GT

XB GT SEDAN - Condition 1 - $35,000 To $40,000
XB GT SEDAN - Condition 2 - $20,000 To $25,000
XB GT SEDAN - Condition 3 - $10,000 To $15,000

XB GT COUPE - Condition 1 - $50,000 To $60,000
XB GT COUPE - Condition 2 - $30,000 To $35,000
XB GT COUPE - Condition 3 - $16,000 To $18,000

The question begs if one of the most highly regarded and respected motor vehicle magazines in Australia states that these cars can be accurately valued against their chart as above give or take a few thousand etc then why is it we as the proud owners and persons tasked with maintaining the GT Enigma seem to undermine that value ?

Should we as owners be united and state that we too believe these values to be correct and accurate and if we when selling our cars request those dollars then surely one would easily maintain that those prices are their true and correct value !!!

I for one believe they're worth more than the current going rate and as so few legitimate ones are still in existence the prices can only but appreciate along with their demand...

I will be sending a copy of this e-mail to all other GT Clubs Australia wide with the intention of obtaining their respective support in ensuring the true value of our real and rare GT's.

I would appreciate it if this could be printed out and dispersed between all club members to ascertain their opinion and to work hand in hand Australia Wide to set a true pricing guide for our cars.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated, please forward to: [email protected]

Thank you for your time, I look forward to your replies...

Regards

Mate,
All cars etc are worth what someone is willing to pay for them. Personally I'd have an XW HO, before I'd have the XR. (Same value). I hope that's not a typo on the XA. ($350,000- $40,000).
No offense intended to street machine magazine, but these

Hi,
Is there any website, book or magazine that I could go to for realistic prices on other fords that have modifications done to them.
I'd love to see somewhere that said stuff like......
2500 stall = $500 extra on resale (for example)
9" = blah

I have to agree with XAGTLY that your car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I have to ask.a) What did you pay for yours.b) Obviously your not going to sell it so why get so wound up about the worth of the car.c)Do you not think it is ironic

Hi,
I am actually in the process of buying a non GT car but I would have liked to have had something as a reference to go to, as in value it added to the cars that I looked at. I found it hard to justify the prices some people wanted for the extras they

The Street Machine issue in question is in the news stands now. It's the latest hot fords issue. Although I am not a fan of this mag I purchased one as AMC wasn't out yet. I think the prices they gave were a couple of years in front of where the trend

Hi,
Well yes I am a newbie. Years ago my other half had an XC bombed out fairly well. I fell in love with the car, and now want one (now I can afford it). I kinda know the theory of what I want out of a car (from listening in on heaps of FORD conversatio

Hiya Nikki,
Glad you didn't take it the wrong way.
I reckon that it's great to see a "chick" driving a hot car. My wife used to love driving my (original XU-1 that threw a leg outta bed and I replaced the JP block for an HZ L34 engine) It had 396hp at t
