This ones for Dr Terry, The Stato,s HQ etc all had 11 as a prefix befor the engin number. Even the 202 6cyl HQ stato? Other than 11 to indicate that this motor belonged to a Stato was there any other special thing or process done to these's motors? What was the reasoning behind this? Was it because, it was a Stato that some parts were more expencive and it was concidered that theses owners could pay a little more?

Hi crowe.
Yes even the 202 & 253 HQ Statesman engines get the 11 prefix.
I've no idea of the reason for its use. But, in the HQ to HZ series Statesmans, the cars were not badged or marketed as Holdens, they were just General Motors Statesmans ( no m |

I've never seen any difference apart from the 11 prefix. I saw a 12 prefix once, on a WB I think. The numbers that officially exist are : 11QL, 11QR, 11QT, 11QU, 11ZR, 11ZT, 11WT. There may be others that I've forgotten, or were 'specials', like the WB Ma |

According to the Holden selling manual they were not referred to as "Holden" and the engines were the standard Holden engines.

Hi Guys.
A WB I currently have in the shed has a 12 prefix also, I've seen no literature on this at all.
In 1972 in my first job, we had a number of HQ Statesman Customs with 263 V8s & 1 guy always used standard grade fuel. I didn't bother with numb |

It was probably another one of those rare mutations/specials that Holden let escape. Like the 350 HQ Prem wagon posted here recently - only 4 ever produced (and at least 3 still exist). I've seen an M21 plated HQ Statesman also. I have heard that possibl |

The reason for the 11 prefix was exactly as stated earlier, the Stateman was not part of the holden range but a GM product. The engines themselves are no different from any other holden engine, but as they have the 11 prefix they are easier to track throu

Hi Guys.
I've identified a lot of strange engine/transmission combinations, mainly on export cars.
327/350 HK/HT/HG commercials in New Guinea for instance.
350 in HQ & HJ Kingswoods & Premiers in New Zealand & Fiji.
Maybe export sales are less |

Dr Terry why are there opions for export and not avaiable to local markets, as the main sales would of been for local production, so export production would of had higer production cost for such a small market in fitting these other combo options? Back in
