Can anyone tell me with older Holdens fitted with tempeature warning lights, at what temperature does the light usually come on?

hq gmh service manual lists the temp as 239 degs f |
looking for an ex ambulance based on the hj/x/z 2 tonner see photo
and collector of all things ambulance police fire and the odd hq to wb parts |

That's 115 degrees Celsius...which confirms my long-held theory that a temp light comes on to tell you that you have just cooked your motor (yes, I know that pressure above atmospheric raises the boiling point of water, but...).

You can buy different temp setting ones, my father had one rigged so if the motor went over a certain degrees (forget what it was) it was rigged to the ignition and would turn the engine off and could not be started until it cooled down again.

Also so long as you actually have water in there even if it is boiling the worst you will do is blow a gasket.

I remember years ago when I did mechanics a high school.My teacher said warning lights tell you when things have gone wrong, but gauges tell you when thingss are going wrong. Provided you look at your gauges. And the other saying is idiot lights. For thos
