Here's a nifty gotcha ! Just watch it if/when you replace the 2 heater hoses on a HQ-J 253-308. One hose goes to the manifold the other the water pump. Can't get it wrong eh ?

It really does matter which way you hook them UP. If you get it right, the heater will work correctly. The wrong hookup will show up as a luke warm heat, heat at idel only, or no heat at all, even intermittant heat.

It appears that on the enlarged HQ drawings there are arrows showing the direction of water flow. So hose connect points DO matter. It got me a beauty.

This is very hard to imagine. Which way is correct then - or where can I see these drawings online?

I actually replaced my heater core in my HQ GTS last weekend so it's fresh in my mind.
It worked excellent too on the freezing cold cruise night I went on last weekend.

There are detailed pictures in most maintenance manuals but it does depend on whic
