While I don't know up from down, I do know "it's broke." My '97 Escort is trying to tell me something. These little rubbery blue fragments are collecting on my floor right under my brake and clutch pedals. My wife thinks we need a new car (heh heh).

I didn't pay attention until my cruise control suddenly crapped out. Driving without CC is as bad as a testiclectomy as far as I'm concerned. What's the connection between bright blue fragments of stuff and CC?

The cruise control unit has switches on the brake and clutch pedals to cancel the cruise when you depress one of these pedals. Something is disintegrating (SP?) up at the top of your pedals it would either be the switch itself or the pedal pivot bush.
