Are the power steering racks adjustable (as in, can you tighten ? If so, is it a simple grub screw like in the recirculating ball types?

If you adjust on car it is possible to affect the return to centre on the rack. On a kirby rack it should be done with an inch pound torque wrench and an angle guage.

Last time I checked Pedders wanted around $450 changeover with them doing the installation.
We sell good cond 2nd hand p/s racks for $250.

Supply & Fit VN rack including wheel alignment should set you back about $420. To ship rack anywhere in Australia, should cost about $300. Let me know if you want more details from me.

Whoa, that's a bit more than i expected. The reason why I asked is that both VN's I have driven so far have had a bit of play (not too much but a bit, you could hear the click, click, click when rocking the wheel side to side either way when stationary.)

Most racks will knock in the stationary position. Bearing in mind, this is where the max load is affected on the rack. In the case of a kirby bishop rack, as in your VN it is a variable ratio rack and they do tend to knock a bit more than others. It is
