hey Qute i hope your still around well our VL has just been sitting we now have everything to go we picked up a good head for $120 already shaved and the head gasket i am just waiting for my brother to come around it is so bloody heavy :P its a nice clean

Hi Gazza,

I thought you'd have that VL back together and ½ flogged to death by now mate :-)

I take it that the old head was too expensive to get welded?

I must admit that I got caught up with other stuff and forgot to scan those pages from the VL

thanks mate, i put the head on late today it went on pretty easy i will finish off the rest tomorrow than i have to pull down my road trail motor bike to fix :S more dramas lol... the VL is taking so long cause me old lady hasnt had the money to fix it up

Yep, do a couple or three oil fill and drain cycles VERY close together. Go to KMart or somewhere and buy a cheap (but not too thin) oil until you reckon you have all the old gunk out. Don't forget the oil filter too.

For the coolant in the motor...hmm

what would be the most easy way of bleeding the cooling system? ive heard a coke bottle cut in half with the neck stuck in the radiator fill untill its full start car put heater on then continue to fill the coke bottle untill water seeps from the bleeders

all is going well the motor is back together i just have a few final touches to go just 2 bolts for the A/C and another bolt for the brace than i have to throw the ducting back on and shes away i almost forgot to do up the 3 little head bolts i done them

ok car is all back together and she starts but i am having problems with the timing some where along the lines heres what ive got bottom timing was inline with the notch on the cam belt cover the cam timing was strait up the dizzy needed to be turned cloc
