I have an Ford Falcon AU Classic 99 The car stopped running and all i could get was the aerial and radio and lights on - turning the key resulted in ticking. I figured it was a cell in the battery and replaced the battery. Car turns on now - but I had to enter the code into the stereo to get that going... Now the car seems to want to stall when driving. From my understanding once you replace the battery, you need to get check the settings required for the idles - specifically the base idle - is there anyway this can be done manually or does it have to be done at a mechanic?? If it is only a mechanic that does this how much am i looking at paying? Is there anything else that would have been affected by the change of the battery? Would the local RACQ/NRMA be able to look at doing this for me? Does the ecu memory get wiped when the battery is replaced. I dont really know what i am talking about but I want to be able to look after her and make sure I cover everything I need to.

i would have thought that the factory computer would have the base settings set in stone almost so that you cant loose things like idle settings when the battery goes flat or replaced?
