Hello,
Does anyone have information regarding a publication, listing or website for Holden red motor casting numbers? Blocks, cranks and heads.
Similar to www.mortec.com for Chev info.
Thanks.

There isn't any really. What particular parts do you want to identify? It is easier with Holden motors to identify from the engine number than it is with US based stuff. There are only about four or five different cranks for red sixes and they are pretty

I believe on early v8`s at the front of the motor in front of the valley cover is a block cast number it has a letter and a couple of numbers the last digit is the casting year eg. 14C8 is a 1978 block the letter would possibly be the month.

All Holden V8's have this. Pre 1972 (approx) the month comes first eg C141 like a Chev ie 14/3/71.

Of course all blocks have CI size cast into them, but it is more so the cranks and heads I require.
For example, I have a yella terra head on a 186, but would like to know what i

Get me the head number and I'll see what I can turn up. I doubt you will have a steel crank out of any 202, uless it's an aftermarket item.
