Hi guys
I have just discovered that a slither of rust from the fuel tank slipped through a crack in the sender unit filter gauze which caused the engine to stall when it reached the kink in the sender tube. But noone locally has got any ideas for replacing this filter gauze as yet. I have since used silicone to seal the gap, after which I noticed this product recommends against prolonged use in gasoline.......so if anyone has any long term ideas please respond!!!!!
Plan B means the tank is coming out, not something I want to do until it rusts through...
thanks Andrew

There is very little you can do except maybe get another off an old sender. I would fit a cheap plastic fuel filter. You should have one anyway.

Oh if you think you've got grief now wait till the silicone starts to break up and gets into the carby jets and the whole fuel system. Repco etc. sell a sealant which is petrol proof. Clean the silicone off with a knife and the rest with plumbers priming

Hi again
Well so far I have got an aftermarket gauze that I can adapt to fit the end of the sender. Last night I threw away the idea of repairing the original one and got some aluminium fly screen and crimpt that to the original round thing on the end

You still need a filter before the pump the gauze is not fine enough and you will get crap in the pump.
Thought you had done the silcone bit.

You can get changeover units from Rare Spares. The filters are a special micron rating to ensure particles do not get through. I know the filters are imported but they are produced seamless so they don't allow bits of rust etc through. It's also worth con
