When I put new wheels / tyers on the Prem, I got a wheel alignment done, as u would. And it seemed that straight away it didn't drive any where as good in a straight line as before. Took it back to the tyer joint to check and it was all how it should be. All the front end bushes, idler arm ball joints, etc were replaced 3ish years ago. And i had already had pwr steering on it for six months. The tyer size went from 225x14 on 7" rims to 215x14 on 6" rims. I was thinking of getting the alignment redone as per RTS specks as I remeber reading about it a little while ago. What are the pros and cons of doing this to a Q?

Hi Dutchy,
Take the Prem to Pedders if in NSW. They have done both my Q's, one with P/S and one without. Both handle at well speed, and in cornering. In fact they feel heaps safer than the x-wifes...VX Calais !!

You won't get full RTS alignment figures with out relocation of the upper control arm mounts, or fitting HZ-WB rails. I got my HQ closer to RTS specs (neg camber, positive castor)but I have exceded the shim stack limits ( a half inch I think) Is yours pow

The best you can do without going to changing the subframe to an RTS one, is to swap the upper control arms from left to right.
Apparently this is what the HQ racers do to give better geometry for racing, as they are not allowed to use RTS subframes. |

Just changing the topic slightly, out of interest which 225X14s did you have? I have only managed to find Firestone Firehawk TZ100 in a 225/65R14.

Sorry Nic, dont rember what the brand was, sold wheels off last year. But I do rember the tyer bloke said that they were a new Aussie mob trying to bet into the market. ( couple of years ago now).

I had a look at the TZ100 and what a crook lookin tread pattern. I have tyre probs too, you see. I wont go past 215/65/14s or 205/70/14s but eek that pattern on the TZ. The only ones I do like are the crappy 2nd hand Hankooks I have. They handle

Nic, Trubluhq.
I'm Currently running Goodyear eagle GA plus 215x65x14, nice and quiet on the road and don't seem to be wearing to rapidly. They handle well in the rain ( I live in north NT ). But I don't think that these tyers are being made any more? S

John, I am running the TZs at the mo, and do agree that they have a butt ugly pattern, they are pretty nice tyres tho and handle quite well. Its a shame that not many tyre comps will touch the wider, higher profile stuff.
