G'day All,
I remember seeing somewhere in this forum about putting commodore rack and pinion steering into an HQ-WB, does anybody know if this is a simple swap or whether welding and major work is involved(I cant weld for s**t)and what model commodore steering setup is best to use? I would love to do it to the tonner, anything has to be better than the armstrong steering system!!! Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks. Russ.

There is a member on here who has done a rack & pinion arrangemnt (and a very neat front shock/spring arrangement) in the front of a Monaro.

He has done heaps of work that would be beyond the scope of a DIY who is not proficient in welding, but it beat

Rods Racks and Suspension is a pretty good setup in my opinion. I have one in the EH and it is great. It is rear mount. Have a look at his website www.rodsracks.com.au

Rods Racks uses LH-UC Torana rack for front mounted. You may consider this type of rack? Maybe this is not physically possible?

Not sure if Mick is refering to me or not, but I have done a rack & pinion steering set up for my HQ GTS Coupe.
I've used a VH Commodore steering column, VH manual rack with Torana tie rods and ends.
Rack bolts onto mounts welded to the rear of the engi
