Hello Everyone,
Im wondering if a V6 Commodore diff would be able to handle the output of a standard Holden 235 V8. Im building an Austin A40/HQ Holden based ratrod and am using HQ running gear including the ute chassis,I have a Commodore disc brake conversion kit for the front end and would love to use the Commodore disc's and stud pattern on the rear also. Yes I know I could but the V8 Commodore diff but I already have a good VP V6 Commodore diff that I want to use if possible.
Regards
Owen and Ned.

i can't see why not, the V6 would have more power than a stock 253(?) there may be advantages in using a V8 diff only if you're a hoon ;)

I was reading somewhere just the other day (probably on here somewhere) and someone has listed the output of a 253 versus the later V6 and there wasn't much difference.
I reckon a V6 diff will handle a 253 quite confortably.
Although any diff will break

The non-LSD V6 & V8 diffs are practically the same - just the V8 one got selected shot-peened internals.
The LSD V6 & V8 diffs (except Hydratrak) are identical internally.

You'll have no probs behind a 253, as the same diff (internally) was fitted beh
Cheers,

Mick
