Hi all,
You may remember I had my HZ Premier stolen and recovered. Anyway I'm building up another column to change over into the Prem and have struck a problem. I know how to remove an ignition barrel when I have the key and can turn it to the OFF position, but the column I have has a working lock but no key and it's in the lock position. Is there anyway I can get this out without damaging the column section or associated gearing etc??

Only way I've ever managed it is to give the lock a hit with a hammer to force it around..... not the best way, and really a last resort.
So you basically have a lock with no key right, and you can remove the top section that holds the lock, to make i |

Thanks 'nut, I have removed the section off the column with the barrel in place. I have tried about 25 keys that I have (also for legit reasons!!), and none have worked as yet. I will keep trying I guess. Thanks for the tips, time to visit the wreckers |

Hi Peter. I do this when I have to tow parked cars and it takes a bit of fiddeling but does work. Find an old eating fork and bend the two middle prongs out and bend to be a neat fit in the slot insert in the ign and start fiddeling. As I said it takes so

Well it's a stubborn lock 'nut, I went to the wrecker, tried their keys (about 30) and still no luck budging the lock!! Looks as if I'll have to break it (or use the fork method, sounds interesting Jim!) to get it out!

Hi again,
Just come in from the shed, new column is in, seems to work fine except it started in reverse when it was supposed to be Park!, oops quick adjustment fixed that, just missed hitting the roller door.... Anyway the new lock (well a good old one |

I have quite a deal of trouble getting into ACC too, sort of have to turn to ON then back to ACC in a fluid motion. Im thinking that it could be the rod between the key and ign switch?
Anyone have any idea?

Hi Guys.
If you can't select accessories, & the sector gear is meshed correctly at the lock barrel, you probably just need to adjust the ignition switch itself. You will have to drop the column to do this.
The switch can be adjusted by loosening the |
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |

Yeah tried that already Doc, wouldn't go to the ACC position when the lock was not connected to the switch on the column, it's a mystery I guess!

Hi Peter.
That's what I meant by the 1st comment.
If the sector gear isn't meshed correctly you won't get full travel.
To check this, remove the barrel again & look down to where the little plastic gear meshes with the toothed rack that pushes & |
