Hello,

I have aqeustoon about carb size. My 308 engine is relatively stock with extractors, single 21/2" exhaust and a mild cam. No head work has been performed. The car is manual and has quite high gearing (diff = 2.75:1) I want to install a holley carb. Is a 600CFM too big ? The info I've read on carb sizing seems to indicate a 390CFM would be the size. Any advice welcome.

Why not stick with the quadrajet, Holden got the carb right on the 308s, they can't be beaten if setup properly!!

The original carby, the quadrajet, is a 650CFM so 600 should be fine.

I would agree with Peter, Quadrajets are good carbies if you take the time to set them up.
