Does anyone have info on what is a heavy duty blue 6 block out of, also engine numbers of them if possible, also what cars/engine numbers are the best for black crank and rods (which I assume will fit the blue block) and finally how to modify the blue block for a red head please.

I've never heard of a 'heavy duty' blue block before. I have heard of agricultural blue 6's before that were used for cement mixers and the like, and had heard rumours that these were a neoprene rear main seal block, but it's only a rumour and certainly n |

Thankyou Byron, that is what the engine buider quoted it as - he is sourcing the parts. Maybe he meant the machining work he will do is to suit h/d application. I do not have any components yet except the red head I will be using (highly modified 12 port

sorry to hijack the thread, but was there ever a run of red 6 (186?) motors built specifically for boats (i.e. marinised) at the holden plant? + they also had specific engine number stampings, I seem to remember reading something like this but can't find

I've never heard of or seen any special 186 engine numbers before. I've only ever seen 186A, 186K, 186P, 186S, 3100X, CK. I'm not sure what prefix the mid-late 60's Bedford trucks had on them. I'd be interested to know of any obscure numbers though, as I' |

Hi Guys.
All of the stationary type 186 engines (cement trucks etc) I've seen all use the normal numbers from their era, 186P etc.
Bedfords didn't use Holden 6 cyl engines until the early 70s.
AFAIK they only used 173 & 202 in CF Bedford vans, t |

I've seen 186's in the old Bedford trucks that look like FB/EK Holdens. Obviously not original. |
