I am confused so are mechanics when i first start my car the choke stays on then seems to cut out after 4 seconds and stalls then when u start it back up it runs like i've taking plug leads off and when u go to put it in reverse it wont run its a xf falcon 5spd manual s pac 25th anniverserey le and also when i've drivin it for 10 minutes the radiator drops all the water and i can't seem to find a leak anywhere if anyone can tell me the problem with it it would be great

at a guess I'd say you have a faulty thermostat? Maybe a faulty radiator cap too. Don't assume becuase you bought a brand new thermostat the problems fixed. It's not uncommon to find a fault new thermostat.

Your ECU maybe trashed. Hence choke issues.

yeah behind the passenger kick panel is whats called the est(electronic spark timing)box.its looks like a computer box and id say thats your problem.where does the water go?

i dont think the thermostate coz then ud over heat and u wouldnt of even tried thinkin bout it unless this has jst started, could be head gaskett id say? seen heeps like it but yeh weird the in reverse? can it idle fine in nutural?...

it has had two new thermostats installed and also new head gasket but i have just realised a whole heap of water comes out the exhuast on first start up

what year is your car and is it carbie or efi?

check your number6 spark plug .
if it has a dry rusty brown look the head could have coroded through. this is pretty common on the XFs .
there is a water way that eats out and lets the water into the number 6 cylinder.
you can get it welded up and m
old B`s go hard .
new B`s have air.

number six spark plug is clean and it is a carbied model its an 87 25th anniveraseray limited edtion sr pack xf 5 speed
