Hi all,

Have reassembled and installed a new column shift auto steering column into my HZ Premier wagon after the pricks who stole it totally buggered up the old column. Anyway while I had the dash out I fixed up a few other things and also found a relay holder at the back of the dash with no relay fitted to it. It's definately part of the original harness and has a spot to mount it somewhere but it's floating around freely behind the dash at the moment. Any idea what this is for, I'm guessing the power rear window as it currently goes down but won't come up via the switch on the dash. Any help appreciated.

Power tailgate relay is bolted to the car above the fuse panel, the floating relay might be for your blinkers.

Thanks Warren, the relay is on the passenger side of the steering column so nowhere near the fusebox. Mmm my blinkers work fine, in fact everything works fine (except the power rear window won't come up) so it appears to have been bypassed if it was ever

Hi Guys.

The spare Bosch relay socket floating around left of the steering column is for a factory electric radio aerial. The 3 pin socket for the aerial switch is probably attached somwewhere nearby.

The purpose of the relay is for the 'auto-retrac

Thanks guys, yeah sounds right Doc (didn't think of that one!), there was a 3 slot plug nearby and the relay appears to have never been used, it's a Premier but still has the factory fitted manual aerial.

Cheers

From my understanding Holden didn't fit power antennas to wagons, utes or vans.

which would explain why yours wasn't used Peter.

Thanks Kevin, I wonder why they weren't fitted as an option to Premier wagons (utes and vans I can understand as they're commercials), maybe another strange Holden idosyncrosy (don't think I spelt that right!!)

Hi Guys.

AFAIK the power aerial on an HZ is mounted on the rear guard, not the front guard.

If it's on the rear, then only sedans (incl Statesman) will have them.

On the HZ/WB wiring harness thread, does anyone know how the 'factory' intermittent wiper setup is installed? I've only ever seen them installed as if they were the last thing added - ie all of the wiring is easy to remove from a complete car. The relay i

Hi Byron.

The intermittent W/Wipers were available as a factory option & as a dealer fitted accessory from late HJ onwards.

Most were dealer fitted, but by WB time a lot would have been fitted at the factory.

In the case of a WB commercials that
