I recently bought a 69 Torino. Guy I bought it off of said it had a 351C out of an old Merc in it....but I am not sure it is, how can I tell for sure it is a Cleveland?

Easiest way to tell a Cleveland from a Windsor is by looking at the thermostat housing. Cleveland thermostat is in the block while the Windsor is in the water pump.

or was the Windsor thermostat in the inlet manifold?? Never try to think and type when tired. Anyway Clevo thermostats are in the block. Jeeez that was harder than it had to be.

Yep the Windsor has the thermostat in the inlet manifold.

Cleveland has the thermostat housing on the block.

Thanks, the only numbers I can find are on the intake, 13726548 and DOAE 9425-M I will look at the thermostat.

Ok, found the thermostat, just in front of the distributor cap, going into the block. I was begining to worry some about what I had. Now, any suggestions on a good setup to build it? Going to be used for street, nothing radical, but want to have efficient

Is the engine a runner or does it need a rebuild? If the engine is fine, just put on a set of extractors ( headers ), maybe a mild cam. What sort of carby are you running? You can spend as little or as much as you want. It just depends if you are want

Engine runs, needs new wiring harness, old one corroded bad, shorts in it i.e. tail lights on all the time, no head lights ever. But does run. Guy I bought it off of had 2bbl intake with 2 to 4 adapter with worn out holly 650 on it. Been thinking new edlb

Well at least you are in the States, you should be able to pick up a new harness easy enough I am guessing. They are the same as a Mustang one aren't they? Flick the 2 barrel manifold and get a 4 barrel one if you don't end up supercharging the engine.

Might be an idea to give your local Ford dealer a call. I know they sold the Falcons through Ford in South Africa so a replacement remote should not be too hard for you to get. I quite often see second had ones come up on www.ebay.com.au but I have no
