Anyone have opinions on HM GEM products??
Im looking to buy a Gold Series Head for my motor off these guys through repco, but ive heard bad things about them, dont know if i should go for it or get mine worked!! Their head is cheaper than getting mine worked, but id rather pay for quality than a cheap piece of S%!T!!

HM engines (or Hit & Miss Engines as some people refer to them), aren't (from what I'm told) fully rebuilt engines. They only replace those parts that are not within specification/tolerance.

Like most things it depends on who's doing the spanner work on your motor, I have a HM Gem 202 in my HZ it's been there 3 years, runs absolutely fantastic, doesn't use oil, quiet, good on fuel (as good a sa 202 is anyway), so I have no complaints. It was

I used to like how GEM would re-co your existing motor for a small fee extra, they now have stopped doing this service amd therefore lost out on bit of my business, I have had three motors done this way now by RPM Engines in Thomastown (Vic) and they are

Yes the engine in my parts car was reconditioned by RPM (it's a 253), I have only driven the car back from Melbourne to home before taking it off the road but it ran great then. I was surprised that they stamp there own engine number on the block, howeve

I agree with Commodorenut head gaskets should go a lot longer than that. Also I think the other gaskets should at most require just a tightening up a bit, they are not a seal like the timing case cover or rear gearbox they don't have any moving partts on
